Ask John: Could Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Encourage Other Remakes?

Question: I’m finally starting to watch Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. I was wondering if this series could somehow start a trend with studios animating an incomplete manga series and then reanimating the series once the manga is over, or was this just a special case? There are factors to consider: how long will it be, popularity [...]

Watch Super Robot Wars L Preview Video Now!

Like the coming of the tides, the next Super Robot Wars game is upon us. Super Robot Wars L will be for the Nintendo DS, and will feature robots from a few new series that haven’t been featured in a SRW game before, like the Rebuild of Evangelion films, Macross Frontier, and Linebarrels of Iron. If you are like me, you have been waiting for a SRW game for the Playstation 3 forever, and unfortunately we will have to continue waiting. The DS is way popular at the moment, and it will continue to sell well and cost less to make, so I do not blame them for taking this path. For a DS game, the animation’s don’t look half bad, especially some of the newer series like Macross F, check out the first PV below and take a look yourself.

Though, I am kind of upset that once again we have another Seed/Seed Destiny SRW game with Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz. Can we at least go back to the Universal Century or move on to 00 or even go back to G Gundam? Hopefully they are saving 00 for a PS3 SRW which will hopefully be announced sometime in the near future. Hopefully. Either way, enjoy L for now!

New Valkyria Chronicles all but confirmed by teaser site

Syndicated from Japanator

When Sega went and registered the "valkyria3.jp" web domain, a lot of people went ahead and assumed that there would be a new Valkyria Chronicles title on the way. And why not? The strategy series has been a consistent critical success all around (Dale loved Valkyria Chronicles II), and even warranted anime and manga adaptations in Japan.

Which makes this teaser site, located at "code1935.jp" all the more exciting, because those silhouettes are clearly of the first game's iconic Edelweiss battle tank, and various Gallian soldiers wielding various war weapons. Furthermore, "code 1935" could be a reference to the first game, as its "Second Europan War" broke out in - wait for it - the year 1935. The site opens on September 16th, which also happens to be the same day as the Tokyo Game Show, so we can expect some more details then, like, for example, what platforms it's destined for.

Which brings us to the big question: Can the Valkyria fans in the audience identify all the weapons in that shot? I see shocktrooper machine guns, sniper rifles, scout rifles, mortar lances, rocket lances, what could be the Ruhm (Selvaria's gun), and...is that  sword? Hm. That might make sense, as Valkyria Chronicles II has a melee-focused spinoff "Fencer" class.
